It has been a crazy busy last couple of weeks, so trying to catch up on the 'ol blog. As the title of this post implies, the busy-ness was of course a good thing!

First, I am excited to share that I have my second cover published! Last month Alaska Airlines contacted me about using one of my photos as the cover for their February issue of their in-flight magazine (they now have service to Oahu and Kauai). The photo may look familiar as it won the recent juried competition for the Allen-Tarleton Contest.

Second, I am proud to announce that my Scottie dog completed her first leg towards getting her obedience and rally titles this past weekend. It was also her 1st birthday. :o) Yep, as other doggie people can relate, I am a proud "mom". So of course I decided to post some "fun" photos from the trial below. (We had cupcakes to celebrate their b'day). The second Scottie dog (brindle in color) is Annie-belle's sister who passed her obedience trial as well.

...those who have traveled the Rainbow Bridge. It's been a year since you crossed the Rainbow Bridge my furry, four-legged friend, and you are still dearly missed.

I Am Here
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me."

Diane and Brett live in California and decided to have a destination wedding in Hawaii. The wedding ceremony was near the beautiful Waimanalo Beach, and I have to say their family are some of the friendliest people I have met. As always, I feel honored to have shared this special time with such wonderful people.

On a side note, I'm almost caught up with work so will be posting regularly again. This year though, I have decided to let the photographs speak for themselves so there will be less words and more images!

a 'lil trashing with Sarah + Oliver

Sarah & Oliver were married on the Mainland, but spent their honeymoon in Hawaii staying at Turtle Bay. They had contacted me about doing a portrait session with them, and were quite excited about the possibility of doing a "Day After" or "Trash the Dress" shoot. Around the time we had scheduled the photo session, a series of bad storms came through so we did not have the sunny blue skies we were hoping for. But at least there was a brief break in all the rain and wind and we took some fun photos anyway. Luckily, we finished just in time before another round of heavy rains soaked us. Enjoy!

Views of the Golden Gate Bridge

Earlier this month I spent a week in San Francisco. And though I had been to San Fran many times before, I've never had the chance to check out the Golden Gate Bridge...so Kekiinani, who happened to be there also visiting her daughter, played the tour guide and showed me some cool lookouts that had great views back towards the city. (Thanks Renee! - and yep that is her in the last couple of images).

One of the many things I love about being a photographer is the many nice people I meet. Krissy and Troy had a very relaxed wedding at Waialae Beach Park. They of course had many friends and family in attendance, and the ambiance reflected happy thoughts and well wishes. Krissy was simply stunning in her gown, though I think what really made her such a beautiful bride was her wonderful smile that never faded. Thank you both for sharing such wonderful memories!

The Del Carpio's

The past couple of months have been VERY busy - which is why I have not been posting as much. So now I am playing "catch up" with my blog. :o)

One of my recent family portrait sessions was with the Del Carpio's. I have one word for their two girls...TOO CUTE!! OK, that is two words but can you blame me? I'm excited to announce that I won my first juried photography competition. The Allen-Tarleton Contest is sponsored by the various photo clubs in Hawaii, and includes different categories to which one can enter. I entered one photo in the color print and one in the B&W print categories. My entry, "On the Side of Paradise", won first place in the color category. I feel extremely honored and pleased that the judges chose my print as there were many beautiful photographs submitted (including a couple from Kekiinani).
